I agree that the piece that inspired this series is lovely, and I'm glad that you referenced it. Of the ones you made, I want to like this one the best; the immaculate, crisp lines of the legs and clean soft shadows on the floor make the left side a very appealing picture. And I like the grain of the wood. All in all, it's great.

And the picture on the right is full of good texture also. Maybe "rain on the window" is a bit of a cliche, but I sure don't mind it. It's a nice shot.

But the pairing somehow falls short for me, and I've been trying to figure out why without success. As near as i can figure, it's the lack of a good joint between the two halves. In [link] one of the things that I think makes it work is the reasonable uniformity of the two images where they abut one another. here, we have trouble because as my eye follows the seam from top to bottom, i find bed vs. sky; dark band vs stark brightness; and finally medium tones against the shadows of the floor. For me, it's too many transitions.

And of course we're going to want to see quotations from one side to the other. In your inspiration the two pillows and two arms each pair up, but here you have the one bright leg cutting a horizontal band of dark, and on the other side a simple split between light and dark.

My suggestion here is simple: what would happen if you were to mirror the rain picture vertically? Now the seam would have a better consistency and feel a bit more like a joint than a slice. Also, the edge of the building would parallel your leg and might set up a bit of an echo.

so, it might be worth a try, or i might be full of it. up to you. Nice work here, both of these halves are probably better pictures than i've ever shot.
